BOSWELL PACES PFEIFFER IN 18-3 WOMEN'S LACROSSE WIN AT GUILFORD
Greensboro, NC (03/27/02) -- Sophomore attack Lyndsay Boswell (Friendship, MD/Southern) scored six goals and three assists in visiting Pfeiffer's 18-3 women's lacrosse win over Guilford Thursday afternoon. Junior attack Kiersten Ferner (Casselberry, FL/Lake Howell) and sophomore midfielder Kristina Llanes (Tracy's Landing, MD/Southern) both added four goals and two assists in the Division II Falcons' (8-2) third straight win. Boswell has scored 18 goals in the three wins.
Pfeiffer received votes in this week's Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches' Association (IWLCA) Division II poll and notched a 10-9 upset of third-ranked Gannon last Saturday.
Pfeiffer scored the game's first 14 goals before Guilford freshman Sarah Routhier (North Yarmouth, ME/Greely) won a center draw and sprinted downfield for a breakaway goal 8:50 into the second half. Sophomore Kathryn Ragin (Pawleys Island, SC/Hyde School (CT)) tallied twice for Guilford (0-10). The Quakers played down a player for the game's final 45 minutes after junior Katie Rice (Worton, MD/Kent County) left the game after getting hit with a stick on the back of the head.
Junior midfielder Maria Battaglia (Sparks, MD/Catholic) scored five assists for the Falcons, who increased their lead in the season series to 3-1.
The contest marked the final game of the year for Guilford head coach Tara Caminitti-Raggett, who is scheduled to give birth to her second child in the next few days. Assistant coach Tanya Tanhehco will take over the reins for the Quakers' remaining three games.
