
GUILFORD WOMEN'S LACROSSE PICKED SEVENTH IN ODAC PRESEASON POLL
Greensboro, NC (2/20/02) -- Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) women's lacrosse coaches announced their preseason poll picks on Tuesday, Guilford ranked seventh. The defending ODAC champion Washington and Lee took the top spot with six of eight first-place votes.
Head Coach Tara Caminiti-Raggett launches her second season for Guilford, after her 2001 debut when the Quakers finished 3-14 (1-7 ODAC). The team returns eight letter winners from last year, including seven starters. Top scorer sophomore Kathryn Ragin (Pawleys Island, SC/Hyde School (CT)) returns after setting Guilford's freshman scoring record with 35 goals and eight assists (43 points). Returning junior Sara Walters-Bugbee (Princeton, NJ/Princeton) hasn't missed a start in her two years at midfield and is coming off her best offensive season in which she tallied 15 points (10 g, 5 a).
Junior Katie Rice (Worton, MD/Kent County) gives Guilford a solid defensive leader on a young back line that continues to improve. Sophomore Kate Hardy (Catonsville, MD/Catonsville) returns after winning the team's 2001 Most Improved Player Award. Freshman Lindsey Kennedy (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) will be in goal.
Guilford kicks off its 2002 season Feb. 27 when it plays the first of a five-game road trip at Limestone. The team's first home game is Tuesday, March 19 at 4:00 pm versus ODAC opponent Sweet Briar.
