
WASHINGTON AND LEE DEFEATS GUILFORD, 17-6, IN WOMEN'S LACROSSE
Greensboro, NC (03/14/01) -- Guilford fell to visiting Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) rival Washington and Lee, 17-6, Wednesday afternoon. Washington and Lee improved to 4-1 (3-0 ODAC), and continues to lead in the conference standings. The Quakers fell to 1-4 overall, 0-2 in the ODAC.
The Generals, led by junior attack Emily Owens (Waco, TX/Episcopal) who scored four goals and an assist, jumped out to a commanding 11-0 halftime lead. Senior attack Liz Borges (Winchester, MA/Winchester) contributed three goals and two assists in the Generals' victory.
The Quakers rallied in the second half with the period's first five goals and pulled to within 11-5. They drew no closer as Washington and Lee answered with six straight goals of its own.
Freshman attack Kathryn Ragin (Pawleys Island, SC/Hyde School (CT)) led Guilford's offense with two goals and an assist.
