GUILFORD WOMEN'S LACROSSE FALLS TO VISITING OHIO WESLEYAN, 14-10
Greensboro, NC (3/11/01) -- Ohio Wesleyan defeated host Guilford, 14-10, Sunday morning, in its season opener. The Bishops started strong as sophomore midfielder Amanda McDermott (Wayne, PA/Episcopal Academy) scored three goals in the first 10 minutes, helping Ohio Wesleyan to a 6-0 lead. Nine of the Bishops' players contributed to the team's scoring in the game.
The Quakers trailed 7-4 at halftime, but opened the second half with three straight goals to tie the game at 7-7. Junior attack Keli Donnelly (Lafayette Hill, PA/Plymouth-Whitemarsh) scored her second goal of the day to knot the score with 23:46 remaining. Donnelly finished with a team- and career-high three goals in defeat.
After a dry spell in scoring, the Bishops outscored the Quakers 7-3 in the last 20 minutes of the game to seal their victory. Megan Klein tallied twice in Ohio Wesleyan's game-ending spurt.
