TANHEHCO NAMED ASSISTANT WOMEN'S LACROSSE COACH AT GUILFORD
Greensboro, NC (01/16/01) -- Guilford College Director of Athletics Mike Ketchum announced the appointment of Tanya Tanhehco as the Quakers' assistant women's lacrosse coach Tuesday. Tanhehco will work alongside first-year head coach Tara Caminiti-Raggett, who was hired in July.
A 2000 Ohio Wesleyan University (OWU) graduate, Tanhehco
was a four-year letter winner and three-time all-conference player for the Battling
Bishops. She graduated ranked third on Ohio Wesleyan's career goals list (117) and fourth
career in points (142). The Battling Bishops compiled a 32-27 overall record and made two
North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Tournament semifinal appearances in her four
seasons.
Tanhehco's finest year came as a junior when she earned first-team All-NCAC honors at attack after scoring a team-high 37 goals and eight assists. Her strong play in 1999 earned preseason All-America recognition as a senior. She suffered a career-ending knee injury and missed her last six games, but still finished second on the club with 32 points (29g, 3a). She earned honorable mention All-NCAC honors and ranked fifth among the conference's goals per game leaders. Tanhehco earned second team all-league honors as a sophomore.
A Williamsville, NY, native, Tanhehco earned All-Western New York lacrosse honors for Nichols High School in 1996.
Tanhehco and Caminiti-Raggett inherit eight letter-winners from last year's 1-13 team. The Quakers kick off the 2001 season March 3 at Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) rival Virginia Wesleyan.
