GUILFORD WOMEN'S LACROSSE TEAM FALLS TO GREENSBORO, 9-6
Greensboro, NC (03/05/00) -- The
Guilford College women's lacrosse team fell to crosstown rival Greensboro College, 9-6, Tuesday afternoon on Haworth Field. The Quakers had not lost to the Pride since 1995 and now hold a 7-2 lead in the season series dating back to 1993. The loss moves Guilford to 1-7, while Greensboro improves to 2-7.The Quakers got three goals from both senior attack Jenn Jankowski (Bethlehem, CT/Westover School) and sophomore midfielder Melissa Urann (Plymouth, MD/Falmouth Academy) for their total of six points. With today's scoring, Jankowski becomes the fifth player in Guilford's history to reach the 100-goal mark. She now has 102 career goals in 39 contests.
Greensboro freshman midfielder Lorin Smith (Davidsonville, MD) led all scoring with four goals and an assist. Freshman goaltender Stephanie Schaeffer (Davidsonville, MD) made fifteen saves and picked up the win for the Pride.
The Quakers' next game will be played this Saturday at Bridgewater with a 4:00 starting time.
