DIVISION II PFEIFFER DOWNS GUILFORD, 16-3, IN WOMEN'S LACROSSE

Greensboro, NC (03/28/00) -- Visiting Pfeiffer University broke open a tight game with 11 unanswered second-half goals as the Falcons cruised to a 16-3 win over Guilford Tuesday afternoon on Haworth Field. Pfeiffer improves to 3-4, the most wins in a season in their two-year history. The Quakers fall to 1-5 with the loss.

Led by junior attack Andi Graham (Reisterstown, MD), the Falcons came out strong and scored the first four goals of the game. Graham led Pfeiffer's offense with five goals and an assist. Sophomore attack Karen Hosmer (Uniontown, MD) added four tallies for the Falcons.

Junior defense Jess Phillips (Sandtown, NH/Cushing Academy), sophomore midfielder Melissa Urann (Plymouth, MD/Falmouth Academy), and junior attack Mary Kate Allee (Chapel Hill, NC/Chapel Hill) each scored in the Quakers' defeat. Freshman goaltender Ruth Weening (East Kingston, NH/Exeter) picked up 10 saves for the Quakers. Her total for the year improves to 70, an average of 11.6 per game.

Guilford's next game is this Friday when it hosts Old Dominion Athletic Conference rival Hollins at 4:00 PM.
