
GUILFORD BEATS FERRUM IN OT FOR FIRST WIN OF THE SEASON
Ferrum, VA (03/23/00) -- Sophomore midfielder Melissa Urann (Plymouth, MA/Falmouth Academy) scored her third goal of the game with 11 seconds left in overtime to give Guilford's women's lacrosse team an 8-7 victory over host Ferrum Thursday. For the Quakers it was their first win of the season, giving them a 1-3 overall record, while Ferrum drops to 1-5 with the loss.Freshman attack Carrie Conques (Fairfax, VA/Paul VI) led all scorers with six goals and helped the Panthers to a 4-3 halftime lead. Guilford senior attack Jenn Jankowski (Bethlehem, CT/Westover School) tallied her third goal of the day with 3:03 left in regulation to force overtime.
Junior attacks Mary Kate Allee (Chapel Hill, NC/Chapel Hill) and Ann Scharff (Wynnewood, PA/Friends Central) each scored their first goals of the season for Guilford. Freshman goaltender Ruth Weening (East Kingston, NH/Exeter) made a career-high 15 saves in the Quakers' victory.
The Quakers host Old Dominion Athletic Conference rival Virginia Wesleyan Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
