GUILFORD'S PUE-GILCHRIST TAKES WEEKLY ODAC AWARD
Greensboro, NC (09/18/00) -- The Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) selected Guilford College sophomore Jennifer Pue-Gilchrist (Cary, NC/Leesville Road) as its Volleyball Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.
Pue-Gilchrist,
a 5-10 outside hitter, averaged five kills and over nine digs per game in two Guilford
losses last week. She put away a career-high 16 kills and hit .484 in the Quakers' 3-0
loss at league-rival Roanoke September 12. Pue-Gilchrist also led the team with a
personal-best 30 digs and two aces. She followed with a 14-kill, 25-dig effort two days
later in a 3-0 loss at Meredith. Pue-Gilchrist served three aces in the match to
increase her team-leading total to 15.
A team captain, Pue-Gilchrist also leads the Quakers in kills (2.53) and digs (6.0) per game. She has led Guilford's hitters in kills in seven of nine matches and paced the club in digs eight times. Her 0.47 service aces per game also leads the team. She earned a spot on the Greensboro Invitational Tournament team last weekend at Greensboro College.
Coach Chuck McCracken's Quakers (1-8, 0-1 ODAC) host Peace College Tuesday (9/19) in Guilford's home opener. Guilford visits league-rival Hollins Thursday (9/21) night, before returning home to host league-leading Eastern Mennonite Saturday afternoon (9/23) in the Ragan-Brown Field House.
