PUE-GILCHRIST NAMED TO ALL-CONFERENCE VOLLEYBALL TEAM

Greensboro, NC (11/06/00) -- Guilford sophomore Jennifer Pue-Gilchrist (Garner, NC/Leesville Road) earned a spot on the second team All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) volleyball squad, the league announced Monday. She becomes the Quakers' first all-league performer since Laura Nelson '99 earned first team honors in 1997.

A 5-10 outside hitter, Pue-Gilchrist led Guilford in kills 26 times and paced the club in digs 22 times. She enjoyed perhaps the finest match of her career September 12, when she recorded 16 kills, a career-high 30 digs and two aces in the Quakers' 3-0 loss at Roanoke. Pue-Gilchrist made a career-high 18 kills, 20 digs, and three blocks in an October 27 loss to Eastern Mennonite. The team captain recorded 12 matches with 10 or more kills and had 24 double-digit digs performances.

In addition to her digs record, Pue-Gilchrist set a school standard with a .936 service reception percentage. Her 41 aces rank sixth on Guilford's single-season list. She moved up to fifth place on the school's career digs chart with 817 pickups in 179 games.

Coach Chuck McCracken's Quakers doubled their win total of a year ago and posted a 6-26 overall record, their most victories since 1997. Guilford finished 3-7 in the ODAC and reached the conference tournament for the ninth time in 10 seasons before falling to tourney runner-up Washington and Lee in the quarterfinals. The Quakers lose one senior to graduation, but return Pue-Gilchrist and 13 other letter winners next fall.
