GUILFORD MEN'S SOCCER TEAM WINS CONFERENCE OPENER

Greensboro, NC — Freshman Ray King (Trenton, NJ/Pennington School) led the Quakers with three goals including the game winner seven and a half minutes into overtime as Guilford downed visiting Emory & Henry 4-3, Wednesday afternoon. The win snapped an 11-game losing streak for the Quakers dating back to last season.

Also among King's career-high three scores was the game-tying goal which came with 11 minutes left in the second half off of an assist by sophomore forward Evan Kimbro (Greensboro, NC/SW Guilford).

King assisted on the Quakers' first goal by senior Owen Finberg (Margaretville, NY/Margaretville) and gave the hosts a 2-1 halftime lead with a powerful 60-yard run down the flank and beating the Wasps keeper from 15 yards out.

Emory & Henry tied the game at two early in the second half on a Josh Diveley tally and later went ahead on a Chris Teague score in the 57th minute off of a Guilford miscue deep in its own end.

Guilford hosts ODAC rival Lynchburg Saturday afternoon at 2:00 pm.
