ST. MARY'S RALLIES PAST GUILFORD IN OVERTIME

St. Mary's City, MD (10/24/98)-  Daniel Oldham scored in the 101st minute as St. Mary's College of Maryland rallied from a late 2-1 deficit to defeat Guilford, 3-2, in overtime in a nonconference men's soccer match Saturday afternoon.  St. Mary's improves to 7-9 on the year while the Quakers fall to 2-13.

St. Mary's took an early 1-0 lead when Jesse McDonough scored off an assist from Daniel Oldham less than 10 minutes into the game.  The Quakers' Ray King (Trenton, NJ/Pennington School) knotted the score at 1-1 in the 35th minute off a direct kick and put the Quakers ahead in the 61st minute with his team-leading ninth goal of the season.

The Seahawks rallied to force overtime when Cudjoe Bennett collected a pass from Chris Matheson and beat Guilford keeper Adrian Sperka (Tryon, NC/Polk County) with 7:13 remaining in the game.

The Quakers visit Marymount for a 2:00 nonconference match on Sunday.
