17th RANKED ROANOKE DEFEATS GUILFORD 3-0
Roanoke, Va (10/11/00)— Roanoke College, the 17th ranked team in the nation,defeated Guilford 3-0. Wednesday, The Quakers held off the Maroons for the first half, but in the 48th minute Ryan Pflugrad (Columbia, MD/Hammond) scored his first of two goals on the game. The second goal game at the 57th minute mark by Regi Francois (Springfield, VA/Washington International). Five minutes later Pflugrad finished off the scoring.
The Quakers had their best chance of the game when Steve Harrison (Virginia Beach, VA/Kempsville) slotted the ball back to Chris Newton (Roanoke, VA/Patrick Henry) who just missed the slipping the ball into the upper ninety as Roanoke keeper Chris Ebeling (Ellicott City, MD/Oakland Mills) just tipped it over the crossbar.
Guilford goalie Pete Ferrante (Wilmington, DE/St. Marks) had six saves in the loss.
