GUILFORD MEN'S SOCCER PLAYERS NAMED TO ALL-ODAC TEAM
Greensboro, NC (11/06/00) -- Guilford College senior Brandon Costilow (Birmingham, AL/Vestavia Hills) and freshman Tim Imafidon (Raleigh, NC/Wake Forest-Rolesville) earned second team All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) soccer honors, the league announced Monday. Quakers' junior midfielder Noam Sorek (Arlit, Israel/Ort Hiriat Bialik) was an honorable mention selection.
Costilow,
a team captain, received his first all-conference recognition. He began the season at back
and moved to midfield during the season. Costilow recorded his lone assist this
season against Ferrum with a minute left in regulation. His assist gave Guilford a 3-2
lead and the win. Costilow was one of the top defenders for the Quakers during his
two years at Guilford. He ends his career with three assists in 48 career matches,
including 34 Guilford starts.
Imafidon
led Guilford's scorers this season with nine goals for 18 points. His numbers rank
14th in scoring and eighth in goals among the ODAC leaders. Imafidon scored four
goals in a three-game stretch, including a career-high two scores against Bridgewater
(9/24).
Sorek
also received his first all-conference recognition. The midfielder finished the season
ranked second on the team in points (14), goals (5) and assists (4). Sorek was the
only player to start in every game this season at midfield. He had a key assist in a big
overtime win against the Savannah College of Art & Design, which was ranked seventh in
the region. Sorek scored Guilford's only goal in the Quakers' 2-1 overtime loss to
league-champion Washington and Lee in the ODAC quarterfinals.
Costilow, Sorek and Imafidon helped fourth-year coach Liam Behrens's team to a 6-11-1 overall record, 2-7 in the ODAC. Guilford reached the ODAC Tournament for the second consecutive year. Costilow is the only graduating senior from this year's team. Sorek and Imafidon return next season with 18 other letterwinners.
