TOCONITA LIFTS RANDOLPH-MACON TO MEN'S SOCCER WIN OVER GUILFORD
Greensboro, NC (10/21/00) — Junior midfielder Marcus Toconita (Narberth, PA/Malvern Prep) scored with 3:38 left in regulation to give visiting Randolph-Macon a 1-0 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) men's soccer win over Guilford Saturday. Toconita redirected an errant shot from close range past Guilford rookie goaltender Ryan Fitzgibbons (Dayville, CT/Killingly) for the winning score.
The Yellow Jackets are ranked eighth in this week's National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Division III South Region poll.
Randolph-Macon junior goaltender Michael Matson (Neptune, NJ/Neptune) recorded three saves in his fourth shutout of the season. Fitzgibbons had a career-high 15 saves in defeat as the Yellow Jackets enjoyed a 20-3 shots advantage.
Guilford hosts Averett Monday afternoon at 4:00 pm.
