WASHINGTON AND LEE BLANKS GUILFORD, 1-0
Greensboro, NC (10/23/99) Sophomore forward Andrew Grimes (Lexington, KY/Henry Clay) converted a Scott LeTourneau (Mooresville, NC/Providence Day) cross and scored what proved the game-winning goal just 13 minutes into the game in visiting Washington and Lee's 1-0 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) win over Guilford Saturday. The win marked the Generals' sixth win in seven games and their fourth in a row.
Washington and Lee freshman goalie Timothy Foley (Darnestown, MD/Georgetwon Prep) helped his team with six saves against eight Quakers' shots. Guilford freshman goalie John Watson (New Bern, NC/New Bern) tallied nine saves while facing 15 shots by the Generals.
The loss ends Guilford's conference season with a school-record four ODAC wins. The Quakers host St. Mary's Sunday on Haworth Field.
