Greensboro, NC (9/10/99) St. Andrews notched a pair of second-half goals on a drenched Haworth Field to defeat Guilford, 2-0, Thursday afternoon.  The Division II Knights evened their record at 2-2, while the Quakers fell to 0-2 after losing their home opener.

After a scoreless first half and a 25-minute rain delay, the Knights scored the first goal of the game on a penalty kick by senior midfielder Kevin Vernado (Montgomery, AL/Ramstein American) after Vernado was taken down from behind in the penalty area.   The Knights' got their second goal courtesy of sophomore Kevin Pych (Romulous, MI/Gabriel Richard) with nine seconds remaining while Guilford played one man down.

Guilford controlled play for much of the game and owned a 16-11 shots advantage. Only three shots went on goal however, and St. Andrews goalie Chris Walker (Ft. Washington, MD/Grace Bretheren) stopped all three.
