KING'S THREE GOALS EDGE GUILFORD PAST MARYMOUNT

Greensboro, NC (10/10/99) — Sophomore forward Ray King (Trenton, NJ/Pennington School) scored all three Guilford goals, including the game-winner with 14:43 remaining, to lift the Quakers to a 3-2 victory over Marymount Sunday afternoon on a soggy Haworth Field. The Quakers' second win in a row gives them six wins on the year, the program's most since the 1992 squad went 6-9-2. Marymount, who entered the match ranked 10th in the October 4 NSCAA Division III South region poll, drops to 6-2.

King scored twice in the first half to give the Quakers a 2-0 halftime lead. The Saints tied the game in at two when junior forward Omar Canty (Chantilly, VA/Chantilly) found the back of the net in the 66th minute. King scored the winning goal in the 75th minute, beating two defenders for the game-winning tally.

Freshman goalie John Watson (New Bern, NC/New Bern) picked up a career-high 11 saves for the Quakers.
