LYNCHBURG HALTS GUILFORD'S FOUR-GAME WINNING STREAK, 2-0
Lynchburg, VA (9/30/99) Guilford College's men's soccer team lost its first Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) game of the season Thursday afternoon at Lynchburg College, 2-0. The loss ended the Quakers' four-game winning streak, their longest since 1991. Guilford's record drops to 4-3, 3-1 in the ODAC after the defeat, while the Hornets climb to 6-4 and maintained a perfect 3-0 record in the league.
Sophomore Ben Emmons (Wallingford, PA/Strath Haven) and freshman Keith Doubman (Bryn Mawr, PA/Harriton) scored the Hornets' goals. Sophomore goaltender Levi Solmose (Glen Arbor, MI/Leelanau) earned his sixth shutout of the season, making six saves in 90 minutes of play for the Hornets.
Freshman goaltender John Watson (New Bern, NC/New Bern) picked up four saves and allowed both goals in the Quakers' loss.
