GUILFORD COLLEGE MEN'S SOCCER TEAM WINS THIRD STRAIGHT
Emory, VA (9/22/99) Guilford beat Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) rivals Emory and Henry, 5-2, Wednesday for their third straight win. The winning streak is Guilford's the longest since 1992. With their victory the Quakers improve to 3-2 overall (2-0 ODAC), and the Wasps drop to 0-7 (0-2 ODAC).
Sophomore forward Ray King (Trenton, NJ/Pennington School) led the scoring with two goals and an assist for Guilford. Other contributors included freshman forward Noam Sorek (Atlit, Israel/Ort Hiriat Bialik), senior Owen Finberg (Margaretville, NY/Margaretville), and freshman Ben Thomas (Chesapeake, VA/Western Branch), each of whom scored a goal in the victory. For Thomas, it was the first goal of his collegiate career.
Freshman goalie John Watson (New Bern, NC/New Bern) had another solid outing for the Quakers with four saves and zero goal allowed in 72 minutes.
