GUILFORD MEN'S SOCCER VICTORY ENDS THREE-GAME LOSING STREAK

Greensboro, NC (10/09/99) — Sophomore forward Ray King (Trenton, NJ/Pennington School) and freshman midfielder Noam Sorek (Atlit, Israel/Ort Hiriat Bialik) each contributed a goal and an assist in Guilford's 4-1 victory over Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) rival Bridgewater Saturday afternoon at Haworth Field. The win snaps the Quakers' (5-5, 4-2 ODAC) three-game losing streak and extends the Eagles' (0-8-1, 0-6 ODAC) losing skid to eight.

The Quakers got on the board when King converted a penalty kick in the 13th minute. After Sorek set up senior Dan Neville's (Absecon, NJ/Absegami) first goal of the season in the 23rd minute, senior midfielder Dax Baker (Greensboro, NC/Grimsley) converted a King corner kick with 2:58 left in the first half.

The shutout was broken in the 78th minute when junior forward Scott Cornwell (Warrenton, VA/Liberty) scored the Eagles' lone goal of the game.

Guilford's eight wins are the most in a single season since the 1992 squad went 6-9-2.
