Greensboro, NC (02/03/02) -- Guilford's basketball teams swept their second Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) doubleheader in as many days Sunday with two wins over Eastern Mennonite in the Ragan-Brown Field House. Four players scored in double figures to help Guilford's men to a 71-55 victory in the opener and sophomore forward Jennie Keichline (Cary, NC/East Chapel Hill) scored a game- and career-high 18 points off the bench to lift the Quakers to a 72-53 win in the women's contest. Guilford swept league-rival Bridgewater at home Saturday afternoon.

Guilford's men (14-9, 9-7 ODAC) won their third straight game and ensured the squad of its first winning season since 1988-89 with Sunday's victory. The Quakers' 14 victories mark their most since the 1988-89 club went 16-10 and their nine league wins tie the school record set by last year's club (9-9).

The hosts broke open a 14-14 contest with a 9-0 run midway through the first half and enjoyed a 37-25 halftime lead. Guilford scored the first six points of the second period and built its lead to as many as 22 points (66-44) with 6:04 left in the game. The Quakers' reserves played extensively and outscored the Royals', 37-13. No Guilford starter played more than 24 minutes.

Guilford senior center Aron McMillian (Greensboro, NC/Greensboro Day) scored 10 of his 12 points in the first half and sophomore forward Jevon Clarke (Apex, NC/Southeast Raleigh) added 12 points off the bench. McMillian grabbed a game-best seven rebounds and had three steals. Sophomore forward Josh Connor (Greensboro, NC/Northwest Guilford) made all four shots from the floor and finished with 11 points, six boards, five assists, three steals and a blocked shot. Sophomore forward Thomas Swindell (High Point, NC/Southwest Guilford) added 10 points and five boards off the bench.

Rookie forward E.J. Arrington (Staunton, VA/Stuarts Draft) led all scorers with 15 points and sophomore center Michael Swartley (Harrisonburg, VA/Broadway) added 13 markers for Eastern Mennonite (4-18, 2-13 ODAC). The Royals shot 34.6 percent from the floor in their 11th loss in 12 games.

In the women's game, Keichline's play off the bench sparked a 10-0 Quakers' run that turned a 26-21 deficit into a 31-26 lead late in the first half. Junior center Emily Misak (Hutchinson, KS/Chaparral) brought the Royals (10-10, 6-9 ODAC) to within 33-30 with the first basket of the second half. Guilford answered with a 12-5 spurt that included six Keichline points and opened a 45-35 lead with 15:34 left. The Royals never drew closer than 10 points the rest of the way. The Quakers limited their guests to 33.9 percent (19-56) field-goal shooting and forced 11 second-half turnovers.

Freshman forward Courtney Hill (Kannapolis, NC/North Rowan) and sophomore forward A.J. Robertson (Eden, NC/Morehead) each scored 10 points in the Quakers' balanced scoring effort. Keichline paced Guilford's rebounders with eight boards.

Misak led all scorers with 20 points, 11 in the first half. Freshman forward Jenny Cline (Harrisonburg, VA/Turner Ashby) posted a double-double with 17 points and a game-best 11 rebounds. Junior guard Emily Mullet (Harrisonburg, VA/Eastern Mennonite), who started the week as Division III's third-leading scorer (23.9 ppg.), shot two-of-14 from the floor and finished with eight points and six assists.

The Quakers' 17-2 record (14-1 ODAC) marks the best 19-game record in school history. Guilford's nine-game winning streak is its longest since a 14-game skein in 1998-99. The Quakers visit Lynchburg Wednesday (2/6) at 7:00 pm.
