WOOLLEY NAMED ODAC MEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Greensboro, NC (12/14/99) -- Guilford College sophomore Brad Woolley (Chapel Hill, NC/East Chapel Hill) earned the Old Dominion Athletic Conference's (ODAC) Men's Basketball Player of the Week Award for the week ending December 12, the league announced Tuesday. The prize marks the first of Woolley's career. He becomes Guilford's first recipient of the weekly award this season.
A 6-1 forward, Woolley averaged 20.3 points and 4.3 rebounds
per game in the Quakers' 2-1 week while shooting 47.7 percent from the floor. He hit for a
season-high 22 points, including a career-best three three-point baskets, in Guilford's
89-85 triumph over Greensboro College December 7. Woolley tallied a team-high 21
points and six rebounds in a December 9 loss to Averett and contributed 18 points and
three assists to Guilford's 73-68 ODAC win over Eastern Mennonite December 11.
Woolley's play boosted his team-leading scoring average to 15.3 points per game, the 11th-best average in the conference. He averages 3.8 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game and leads the club in three-point field goal percentage (.394). His 13 three-pointers are two better than his 1998-99 total and rank second on the team through eight games.
Coach Butch Estes' club has won two of its last three games and carries a 3-5 overall record (2-1 ODAC) into its mid-semester break. The Quakers are 3-3 against Division III opponents and have already matched their 1998-99 win total. Guilford returns to action January 4 with a home tilt against league-rival Washington and Lee.
