Guilford College Men's Lacrosse 1998 Season Recap

Junior LordGuilford's freshman-laden squad battled inexperience and injury for most of the year in suffering its most losses since 1995. At least five of the team's 12 first-year players started regularly, including Anthony Roman who played every minute in goal for the Quakers. Season-ending injuries to leading scorer Fran Randall '99 and starting midfielder Frank Cole '01 hampered Guilford's offense, while a shoulder injury sidelined starting defenseman Quentin Packard '01.

Chad Tripp '99 scored a career-high 14 goals and 10 assists for a team-leading 24 points. Attackman Colin Smith '00 (17g, 3a) tallied 20 points, five better than linemate Matt Synowiez '01, the top freshman scorer. Josh Beaumont '98 led the team for the second straight season with 88 ground balls, a career high. He and reserve defenseman Ben Stahlberg '99 are the lone seniors from the 1998 team.
