GREENSBORO DOWNS GUILFORD IN CROSSTOWN MEN'S LACROSSE CONTEST

Greensboro, NC (4/28/99) -- Senior attackman Damon Legato (Mt. Laurel, NJ) scored seven goals and an assist and senior Neil Weisshaar (Crofton, MD) added three goals and a game-high six assists to lead host Greensboro to a 23-7 win over crosstown rival Guilford Wednesday. The game marked the final home game for the Pride's (7-5) eight seniors and marked the Quakers' (5-10) final 1999 contest.

Greensboro scored the first four goals of the game and held a 7-2 advantage after the first quarter. The Quakers netted three of the first four second-quarter tallies to pull to within 8-5 with 12:11 left in the opening half, but Greensboro scored the next 12 goals to blow the game open. Legato scored four of the Pride's goals and picked up an assist during the 12-0 run, which extended from the last five minutes of the second quarter into the opening minutes of the fourth quarter.

Guilford senior Fran Randall (Homer, NY/Homer) paced the Quakers with a goal and two assists in defeat. He concludes his career with 110 points on 46 goals and 64 assists. Randall ranks fifth on Guilford's career assists chart. Senior midfielder Chad Tripp (Syracuse, NY/Henninger) added two scores in his final collegiate contest and sophomore Jason Gauthier (Kernersville, NC/Skaneateles (NY)) totalled a goal and an assist to finish the year with a team-and career-high 36 points. Sophomore goaltender Anthony Roman (New York, NY/Mt. St. Michael Academy) made 14 saves in three quarters of work.

The Pride took advantage of 13 Guilford penalties and converted seven of 10 extra-man opportunities.
