
RIBEIRO LEADS KENYON TO MEN'S LACROSSE WIN OVER GUILFORD
Greensboro, NC (3/13/99) -- Senior attackman Paulo Ribeiro (Lexington, MA/Lexington) scored five goals and two assists to lead visiting Kenyon past Guilford Saturday afternoon, 17-7. The win keeps the Lords' record perfect at 3-0 and snaps Guilford's (3-2) three-game winning streak.
Kenyon outshot Guilford, 16-1, in the first quarter on the way to a commanding 7-1 lead with 10:10 to play in the second quarter. The Quakers tallied twice in the final 7:48 of the first half to get within 7-3 at halftime.
The teams traded third-quarter goals before Kenyon scored five times in the last 7:32 of the third period to gain a 13-6 edge. After Guilford's Ted Long (Halifax, MA/Cape Cod Academy) scored early in the fourth period, Kenyon netted the game's final four goals, including back-to-back tallies by Ribeiro less than two minutes apart.
Junior attackman Evan Bliss (Bethesda, MD/Landon) and sophomore midfielder Derick Stowe (Great Falls, VA/Potomac) each tallied three times for Kenyon, while rookie attackman Justin Martinich (Bay Shore, NY/Bay Shore) added a goal and a game-best three assists. Sophomore goaltender Greg Clancy (East Falmouth, MA/Falmouth) made eight of the Lords' 12 saves in three and a half quarters of work.
Senior Fran Randall (Homer, NY/Homer) paced the Quakers with two goals and an assist.
