ODAC PRESEASON MEN'S LACROSSE POLL RELEASED

Greensboro, NC (02/29/00) — The Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) released its 2000 men's lacrosse preseason coaches polls Tuesday. Guilford's men placed seventh in the strong seven-team conference. Washington and Lee was picked to finish first this season as it won the conference last year for the first time since 1995. Hampden-Sydney earned the second-place position.

Guilford returns 12 letter winners from last season's 5-10 squad (0-6 ODAC), which finished last in the conference. Junior Jason Gauthier (Kernersville, NC/Skaneateles(NY)) led last year's scorers with 21 goals and 15 assists for 36 points. Despite only playing in five games last season due to a knee injury, junior Matt Synowiez (West End, NC/Easton(MD)), netted 14 goals and tallied one assist for 15 points, and will be effective this year on the attack.

The Quakers open their 2000 season with a home game against Curry College March 4 at 1:00 p.m.
