Guilford's Alt Earns Preseason All-America Honors
Greensboro, NC (8/30/01) Junior John Alt (Fort Lauderdale, FL/Nova) was recently selected to the D3Football.com and the Football Gazette NCAA Division III preseason All-America teams.
Alt, a punter,
earned third-team Football Gazette Division III All-South Region football honors last
season for the second year in a row. He
completed his junior year ranked second in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) and
20th in NCAA Division III with a 39.1 yards per punt average. Alt received second-team All-ODAC honors
for the second straight season last year after booting a league-high 61 punts for 2,388
yards. Entering into his junior season, he has a career punting average of 39.2 yards per
kick.
Coach Mike Ketchum’s Quakers finished last season with a 1-9 record, 1-4 in the ODAC. Guilford returns 37 letter winners for the 2001 season, which begins this Saturday (September 1) at Division II Carson-Newman.
