2001: Started in the Quakers' first six games
before suffering a broken finger against Ferrum... still managed to finish among
Guilford's top 15 tacklers with 17 (14 solo)... started the season with his most
productive game against Carson-Newman where he recorded five tackles (four solo,
one for a loss), two pass break-ups, and one interception... finished with two
interceptions, five break-ups, and one tackle for loss... 2000: Switched from receiver
to defense for the final two games… made one catch for 11 yards in the win
against Randolph-Macon… made four tackles against Catholic in his secondary
debut… finished the year with 15 stops (1 solo) and one pass deflection… Personal:
Three-year letter winner and All-Triad 3-A Conference performer for Coach Kin
Watlington’s Bartlett-Yancey H.S. team… took fifth in the 400 meters at the
state 3-A championships… named Bartlett Yancey’s Scholar Athlete of the Year
as a senior… son of Barry and Shirley Long… physical education major.
