Guilford's top returning tackler for the second straight season… top candidate for starting middle linebacker duties in the Quakers’ new defensive scheme… one of Guilford’s most experienced defenders… 2001: played his best game of the season in a Guilford win November 10 against Emory and Henry, when he made 10 tackles, six solo...  had 10 stops in Guilford’s season-opening loss at Division II Carson-Newman (9/1)...  made eight tackles, including his lone sack of the year against Ferrum (10/6)...  had 64 tackles (23 solo), which ranked second on the team. 2000: Led Guilford and ranked ninth among the ODAC tackles leaders... enjoyed four games with 10 or more stops… made a season- and team-high 13 tackles versus Bridgewater… topped Guilford with 10 stops against Ferrum...  1999: Paced Quakers' ballstoppers against Davidson and Greensboro… made a game- and career-high 17 stops (6 solo) before a hometown crowd at Division I-AA Davidson… had 10 tackles, including four for loss and a sack, against Catholic… member of Guilford’s Fall Student-Athlete Honor Roll… 1998: Guilford's eighth-leading tackler, second among rookies… broke into the starting lineup midway through the season… Personal: Earned all-state honors for Coach John Patterson '80 at Providence Day School (Patterson played with Guilford head coach Mike Ketchum '78)… three-year football letter winner… runner up in 1997 Mecklenburg County Defensive Player of the Year balloting… helped the Chargers' baseball team to back-to-back state championships… son of William and Gina Black.
