Team Black looked to rebound in Game 4 with Game 1-winner Tim Lucason on the hill in a must-win situation. Team Cardinal countered with the expected, but bumped Game 3 starter, Chris Millsap.

Lucason looked as sharp as his Game 1 shutout performance early, as he struck out the first four Cardinal batters and eventually retired the first seven batters in the game.

Uncharacteristic wildness, however, proved his undoing in the third inning. After retiring leadoff hitter, Dennis Jensen, Lucason walked Team Cardinal's eighth and ninth hitters, Jeremy Brooks and Gabe Staub.  Staub and Brooks played major roles in the Cards' Game 3 victory.  Leadoff hitter Steve Danis plated Brooks with a double, and Staub scored on Josh Wolfe's ground ball to first.

While Millsap wasn't as overpowering as his mound counterpart, he only allowed one single through the first three innings. In the Cardinal fifth, Staub led off with a triple and scored on Bryan Probst's single, stretching the lead to 3-0.  The Cards scored four unearned runs in the seventh after a two-error play by Kevin Moore, and RBI by Danis and Probst.

Millsap, displaying a confidence here-to-fore missing in his mound presence, allowed one baserunner in every inning, but avoided the big inning by throwing strikes when they were needed most. Moore and Reed nicked him for two singles each, but the rest of the Team Black lienup went a combined 1 for 16.

Notes: The series' leading hitter, Eric Pelletier, sat out Game 4 with classroom commitments.... Team Black was unable to get relief pitcher Joe Dooley warmed up due to a lack of a bullpen catcher on their Tuesday-class-day-depleted depth chart.... The eighth- and ninth- place hitters for Team Cardinal have scored seven of their team's 15 runs... Team Black has tallied only two runs in the four games played to date... Chris Butcher has hit three of the six doubles in the series.
