Welcome to the Event Proposal Tutorial

1. First and foremost, you are going to need to have planned the event/project in as much detail as possible. Also, make sure you will be able to hold the event/project, and that it will appeal to Guilford students. These steps are crucial, and will make everything easier down the road.

2. Now you need to fill out a Proposal with all the information you layed out about your event/project. You cannot be too specific. Important information about how you plan to go about running said event/project, in addition to how much it costs are very important. It would be a good idea to put down how much it costs AND how much you are asking from us.

You can find the Proposal Template for Events and Projects - Here

3. Email your completed proposal to senate@guilford.edu by 2:00pm on the Sunday before the next Senate meeting.

4. Your proposal will be reviewed at the next Steering meeting (held Sunday's at 2:30pm). Steering will email you back with questions and suggestions to help improve your proposal before it referring it to either ICC, SCC, SRC, or full Senate (see committees section for more information).

5. If referred to full Senate:

5a. Email your revised proposal back to senate@guilford.edu by 5:00pm Wednesday.

5b. At the first Wednesday meeting you will be given five minutes to outline your proposal and answer clarifying questions. Your proposal will then be shelved until the following week, giving the Senators time to talk with their constituencies and gather necessary information.

5c. At the next meeting, Senate will deliberate on your proposal and have the option of coming to consensus. A decision won't be made until it has received the support of the full Senate.
