SDP 2 Graphical Field Mapping

Due 22 September 2009, 5 pm.
Worth: 10 pts toward final grade

  1. Read sections 3.06 and 3.07 of Ramo, Whinnery, and Van Duzer which is here.
  2. Do the following problem:

P1. Map the fields for a parallel plate capacitor. Assume the plates are infinitesimally thick. The length of the plates is three time their separation. One plate is at +Vo and the other is at -Vo. As in figure 3.07b, you need only plot one quadrant due to the symmetry.

  3. Do problems 3.07c and 3.07d.
For all of the final plots, use a different colors to distinguish between the field lines and the equipotentials.
