Jupiter and Its Moons
The gas giant planet Jupiter will be high in
the night sky in late October. Jupiter and its system of moons are
beautiful objects to observe with a small telescope. Prof. Thom
Espinola will give a short multimedia presentation discussing the
nature of gas giants and what astronomers have recently learned about
them. He will then use the planetarium to show everyone how to find
Jupiter and other interesting objects in the night sky. The
presentation will be followed by a tour of the observatory and viewing
through the small telescopes and the main telescope if the weather
permits.
