Grant Writing Workshops

Beginners Grant Writing Workshop

As funding for non-profits, community-based organizations, universities and colleges continues to be cut, the need for skilled grant writers will only increase. The Grant Writing Workshop can benefit individuals seeking work in this growing field, as well as organizations that want to enhance the skill set of their staff.

Program Curriculum

The Basic Grant Proposal Writing Workshop imparts the basic skills and knowledge necessary to locate appropriate funding opportunities and to create a successful grant funding program. First, we help students understand and navigate the complexities of funding environments. We then teach them how to view proposals and how funding decisions are made. The final step is learning to develop effective, professional, and marketable grant proposals, which includes being able to recognize common grant writing mistakes. By the end of the workshop, students will walk away with the basics of grant proposal development.

Schedule of Classes

The next Beginners Grant Writing Workshop will be held April 27, 2013 from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.

Fees
Tuition (includes materials) $199

Intermediate Grant Writing Workshop

Prerequisite

Participants should have knowledge of computer skills, limited experience with writing grant proposals, and/or have completed the Beginners Grant Writing Workshop.

Program Curriculum

This workshop is a fast-paced look at grant proposal writing. We will first analyze what it takes to write competitive, successful grants, then participants will have the opportunity to practice what they have learned about the grant writing process.

Topics covered include analyzing and outlining the grant application and Request for Proposals (RFP), conducting a needs assessment, the components/sections that make up grant applications/proposals, including the approach, organizational profile, activities, and outcomes, evaluation and program driven budget development, and how to plan for program sustainability.

*NOTE: Workshop will be held in a computer lab.

Schedule of Classes

The next Intermediate Grant Writing Workshop will be held June 8, 2013 from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.

Fees

Advanced Grant Writing Workshop

Prerequiste

Participants should have knowledge of computer skills. Participants who take the Advanced Grant Writing Workshop should have completed the Beginners and Intermediate Grant Writing Workshops OR have experience with drafting and submitting grant proposals.

Program Curriculum

This workshop is for those who have drafted grant proposals and who are ready to learn what to do – and, more importantly, what not to do – on your cover sheet, narrative, background page, and your stakeholder and third-party evaluation plan. Participants will also discover the quickest and most efficient ways to gather the information you’ll need to develop your proposal’s attachments, including information on your organizations’s structure, administration, and finances. Participants will gain a full understanding of the criteria funders use to determine whether your grant proposal gets funded or rejected. Through practice, participants will learn how to tailer responses to information found in the peer review criteria.

Before the workshop is over, you will discover a number of significant finishing touches that can give your project the edge over others. You’ll also learn about the importance of obtaining community support before submitting a proposal to any government agency.

*NOTE: Workshop will be held in a computer lab.

Schedule of Classes

The next Advanced Grant Writing workshop will be held July 13, 2013 from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.
