Film Critic Leonard Maltin Joins Oct. 23 Bryan Series Program

Leonard Maltin, noted film critic, historian and author, will moderate the Oct. 23 Bryan Series program featuring Academy Award-winning director Ron Howard. He will interview Ron and take audience questions.

Leonard was the movie reviewer on the syndicated television series “Entertainment Tonight” from 1982-2010, and is well known for his annual paperback reference guide to movies that was first published in 1969. He writes the blog Leonard Maltin's Movie Crazy.

He has hosted a weekly program on ReelzChannel, and for three years he co-hosted the movie review show “Hot Ticket.” He created, hosted and co-produced the “Walt Disney Treasures” DVD series.

Leonard holds the Guiness World Record for the shortest movie review. His two-star review of the 1948 musical “Isn’t It Romantic?” consists of one word, “No.”

He is a member of the National Film Preservation Board and the board of directors for the National Film Preservation Foundation. He has been guest curator at the Museum of Modern Art and president of the Los Angeles Film Critics Association.

A graduate of New York University, he teaches in the School of Cinematic Arts at the University of Southern California and was a faculty member at the New School for Social Research in New York City for a decade.
