Alumna Keira Wilson ‘08 was named Staff Person of the Year for the 2014 National Alternative Break Awards by Break Away, a nonprofit support organization for alternative break trip programs.
Program coordinator with the Pace Center for Civic Engagement in Princeton, N.J., she works closely with the Pace Council for Civic Values and Breakout Princeton. She creates leadership development opportunities for students at Princeton University on topics like criminal justice, environmental sustainability, poverty, healthcare, education reform and more.

Students nominated Keira for the award. “The way in which she supports, teaches, and mentors is masterful,” one student said. “She's a huge part of the success of the program, but from a place where the students are front and center and clearly have ownership of the program. The fact that so many other voices contributed to the nomination was impressive.”
While at Guilford, Keira majored in psychology and was a Quaker Leadership Scholar.
