The new Science Center also gives students and faculty the most advanced technology and safety features, further enhancing the learning experience. The center offers 54,000 square-feet of state-of-the-art laboratories including:
  1. a UNIX lab funded from a recent $137,000 National Science Foundation (NSF) Academic Research Infrastructure grant
  2. Five Silicon Graphics O2 workstations and one dual processor Silicon Graphics Origin 200 server
  3. A Geographical Information System (GIS) software (ER Mapper)
  4. Programming / numerical analysis software (Matlab)
  5. Molecular modeling software (Spartan)
  6. 10 Mac G4's for student use in addition to about 15 other Macs. These computers are all connected to the campus network and, in many cases, are also used to communicate with laboratory equipment including the optical and radio telescopes.
