A highly flexible program, Guilford's biology major is built on a strong foundation of three core courses and a wide selection of upper-level courses to allow students to tailor their studies to meet specific interests and goals. Areas of specialty include botany, cellular and molecular biology, ecology and field zoology, as well as pre-medicine, pre-dentistry, pre-veterinary studies and preparation for other health professions.

"Classes are small, and we are able to have direct student contact. Twenty-some is the largest class I have, and most have less than twenty. That makes teaching very nice. The atmosphere, overall openness, friendliness, give-and-take attitude, as a student you can talk about things other than biology, and get to know other people's interests."
--Chuck Smith, Professor of Biology
