Experience
Vice President, Community Senate at Guilford College (2000-2001)
  • Oversaw the fall elections. Identify and contact potential student leaders and motivate them to run for a position in student government. Market and advertise the elections and get people to vote on Election Day. Design and create the ballots for the election. Complete this task with the partnership of the President of Community Senate. Volunteers were also organized to run the elections and assist voters as needed.
  • Revised the process through which alcohol violations were handled through the implementation of an age-appropriate counseling /sanctioning procedure. This was a joint effort with the Dean of Residential Life to positively impact students.
  • Implementing a computerized voting system. Fall elections could be run much better and be less time consuming if it were computerized. Delegated the task of designing a voting program to the Information and Technology Services department. Worked closely with the developer to design an efficient, user-friendly, and secure voting system. Implemented the program in February of 2001 with success.

Residential Advisor, Binford Hall (1999-2001)

  • Eased the transition from high school to college for incoming freshman and fostered the development of community on the hall. Enforce College policy and regulations. Mediate disputes. Coordinated educational and social programming. Developed positive administrative skills, including time management. Represent the college at monthly meetings and communicated relevant information to student body.

Admissions Volunteer and Recruiter (1999-2001)

  • Respond to inquiries and conduct campus tours to potential students and their families. Developed phone communication skills during the informational phone-a-thon in the spring of 2000.

Activities
Member of the Track and Field Team. Member of the Senate Inner tube Water Polo Team. Served as a mentor first year students. Volunteered for United States Public Interest Research Group, and worked on the Clean Air and Water campaign.
