Nikki's first impression of Guilford was very eye-opening. Coming from a private high school in Fredericksburg, Va., she had not experienced much diversity. Guilford showed her things that she had never seen before. She first found out about Guilford from a high school friend that was being recruited to play baseball and convinced her to apply. She chose to attend Guilford because of the pre-med program.

Nikki believes she has gotten more experience at Guilford than she could have gotten at any other college. The thing that she likes most about Guilford is the size. "The professors care about you as a person, not just as a student," she says.

Nikki also likes the fact that students can call their professors by their first name because "it breaks a lot of barriers so it's easier to be friends with your professors." The one thing that Nikki doesn't like about Guilford is that the beach is 3 hours away. Her favorite courses at Guilford have been her athletic training courses. She enjoys them because it is her area of interest and she enjoys the people in her classes.

While a sophomore at Guilford, Nikki had the opportunity to shadow a physician's assistant and orthopedic surgeon in the operating room. Because of her experience, Nikki, a double major in sports medicine and health Sciences, plans to go to physician's assistant school after she graduates. She eventually wants to become a physician's assistant for an orthopedic surgeon.
