Intramural-Recreational Sports Position Description

Position Title:              Student Supervisor (Intramural Sports)
Supervised by:            Coordinator, Intramural-Recreational Sports
Area:                           Intramural-Recreational Sports

Position Summary:      Student supervisors, Intramural Sports, serve as the on-site manager for all Intramural Sports activities and employees. Manages critical incidents as necessary, maintain a safe environment, and perform special duties as assigned.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Agreeing to work between 8-10 hours per week and some weekend event supervision. Attending weekly staff meetings, unless prior approval from the Coordinator.
  • Attending all in-service and Supervisor leader training sessions.
  • Assisting with the preparation, organization and administration of all special events, employee training and organizational meetings as assigned by the Assistant Director or Coordinator.
  • Completion of daily activity reports and other necessary paperwork (per shift worked). Prepare clipboards for daily activities (when needed).
  • Providing leadership for officials, scorekeepers/equipment monitors and managing and/or adjusting employee assignments as needed.
  • Providing the necessary equipment for the activity, assist employees with preparing the facility (fields/courts) to be used for game play, assist the game officials with starting contests on time. Assist the equipment monitor with equipment inventory at the end of the night.
  • Maintaining a safe environment for participants and employees at all times, attending to injuries as needed, deciding on rule interpretation protests and resolving conflicts and unsportsmanlike behavior.
  • Performing other duties as assigned by Coordinator.

Qualifications:
  • Prior sport or recreation knowledge base. Experience as an Intramural Sports official, scorekeeper, or equipment monitor, preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to take charge of difficult situations.
  • Possess strong knowledge of the Supervisor's Staff Manual, Intramural Sport Calendar of Events, playing rules, governing rules and eligibility requirements.
  • Currently certified in Adult CPR and First Aid through the American Red Cross
