Rob Whitnell Interviewed About MOOCs
Professor of Chemistry Rob Whitnell talked to the Greensboro News & Record for a story about MOOCs, short for massive open online courses.
He has taken three computer science MOOCs in the past year to better understand what this form of online education means for Guilford and its faculty. While some have predicted that MOOCs will transform higher education, Rob views them as a more modest step in the evolving relationship between technology and teaching.
“It could be another tool for us,” he told the newspaper, “but it’s not a replacement for the experiences that students at a small private liberal arts college get.”
