Caroline Loftus ’13 Earns Fulbright Teaching Assistantship
Caroline Loftus has been awarded an Austrian Fulbright Teaching Assistantship for the 2013-14 academic year.
She will be teaching Oct. 1-May 31 at two high schools in Bruck an der Leitha, about 20 miles southeast of Vienna. Two other Guilford alumni will be in Austria at the same time through the Fulbright program: Colleen Hayes ’12 and Ryan Sanders ’12.
Dave Limburg, professor of German foreign languages, coordinates the opportunities for Guilford students.
“Colleen, Ryan and I owe a great debt of gratitude to Dave Limburg,” Caroline says. “The three of us started our journey in German 101 in the fall 2008 semester, and I can’t imagine where any of us would be without Dave’s constant guidance and support.”
The teaching assistantship offers the opportunity for participants to be cultural ambassadors, develop professional skills, network internationally and live and travel in a new place.
Over the past 19 years, Guilford students with German majors and minors have received 26 Fulbright-related awards for teaching in Germany and Austria. The awards offer full support for traveling and living abroad.
