Will Parshley ’13 Publishes Research
Will Parshley has published an article based on research he conducted for his honors thesis in psychology.
The article, “The Relationship Between Drinking to Cope and Comorbid Depression & Social Anxiety,” appears in Papers and Publications: Interdisciplinary Journal of Undergraduate Research. Charles A. Dana Professor of Psychology Richie Zweigenhaft served as Will’s thesis advisor.
The study suggests that those who suffer from both depression and social anxiety are more likely to drink alcohol to cope than those who suffer from only one of the two disorders, and that drinking to cope appears to be more rooted in social anxiety than depression.
