Professor George Guo Quoted on U.S.-China Summit
Faculty member George Xuezhi Guo was interviewed about the summit June 7-8 between President Barack Obama and Chinese leader Xi Jinping in Rancho Mirage, Calif.
The meeting was a historic “getting-to-know-you opportunity” for the leaders that could allow them to build personal ties and shape a cooperative relationship, George told the Desert Sun, a newspaper serving Palm Springs, Calif., and the Coachella Valley.
“The summit can certainly cool tensions between the U.S. and China,” he said.
A professor of political science and East Asian studies, George is the author of China’s Security State: Philosophy, Evolution, and Politics, a book published in 2012 by Cambridge University Press.
