Bryan Series Begins Oct. 23 with Editor Tina Brown
Tina Brown will kick off the 2012-13 Bryan Series at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 23, at War Memorial Auditorium.
Brown is editor-in-chief of The Daily Beast-Newsweek merger and is regarded as the highest-profile, most talked-about magazine editor in the world. On Oct. 18, she announced that Newsweek will transition to an all-digital format in early 2013.
She rose through the ranks of the magazine industry on both sides of the Atlantic to become editor of Vanity Fair, where she increased circulation from 250,000 to 1.2 million. She was also the first woman editor in the history of the New Yorker.
As an editor, she has been honored with four George Polk Awards, five Overseas Press Club awards and 10 National Magazine Awards. She is a frequent commentator on ABC’s “Good Morning America” and MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.” She launched the internationally renowned Women in the World summit in 2010 and wrote a 2007 biography of Diana, Princess of Wales.
