Vice President for Finance Greg Bursavich was quoted in a CNN blog post about sharply higher rates for student health insurance offered by colleges.
The cost of health insurance offered to students through Guilford jumped from $668 to $1,179 per semester — an increase of 76 percent — due to the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare. The new federal regulations require plans to provide at least $100,000 in coverage, twice as much as Guilford’s plan previously provided.
“As the coverage continues to increase, as mandated by the law and the regulations, there is no question the cost is going to go up,” Greg told CNN.
