News 14 Reports on Guilford Farm

News 14 Carolina broadcast a segment July 31 about the Guilford Farm’s sale of fresh produce to local restaurants.

“Farmers say they started these crops to be environmentally sustainable, but they needed to be financially sustainable, too,” reporter Caitlin Lockerbie said. “That’s why they’re now selling their produce to restaurants around town, including Lucky 32.”

The farm sells to the Guilford and Oak Ridge Military Academy cafeterias; Lucky 32, Josephine’s and Elizabeth’s restaurants; Deep Roots Market, a natural foods cooperative; and about two dozen members of the Guilford community who have purchased Community Supported Agriculture shares.

“The farm-to-school idea is a beautiful thing,” said farm manager Korey Erb.
