Reunion 2012 Features Alumni Awards and Lots of Activities May 18-20
Alumni from class years ending in two or seven and members of Guilford’s Golden Circle will return to campus May 18-20 for Reunion 2012, a weekend of family-friendly activities and fellowship.
The weekend includes the annual Alumni Convocation on Friday, May 18, at 5:30 p.m. in the Carnegie Room of Hege Library. The Class of 1962 will be inducted into the Golden Circle and alumni award recipients will be recognized by the Guilford College Alumni Association. A reception and Reunion Weekend buffet dinner will follow the convocation.
The afternoon of Saturday, May 19, features a picnic lunch and concert featuring music by Mary Johnson Rockers ’01 and Spark. The event takes place at the Guilford Lake from noon-2 p.m.
Saturday night features a reception for 25th and 50th reunion years at 5 p.m., class dinners in Hege Library from 7-9 p.m. and an after party from 9-midnight in the Community Center of the South Apartments. The Kidz Zone Pajama Party for children ages 4 through 12 (pajamas are optional) is from 7-11 p.m. in the Community Center Lounge of the South Apartments.
Other activities during the weekend include a talk by Political Science professor Kyle Dell, “Is More Democracy a Cure for America,” at 3 p.m. on Saturday in the Leak Room of Duke Hall, a Career Development open house, an admission advice session and tours of campus focused on history, sustainability and the Underground Railroad.
